Winter Trap League 2005

 

General Information

 

·         All participants must be current Juneau Gun Club members.

·         Each participant will shoot 50 targets per week; 25 targets @ 16 yards; 25 targets @ 20 yards.

·         JGC safety rules apply; Eye and ear protection are required.

·         Thursday Nights: 6pm - 9pm

·         League will run 10 consecutive weeks beginning, Thursday, January 13th and ending March 17th.

 

 

Team Information

 

·         Roster Size:        Minimum - 7 shooters;  Maximum -10 shooters per team.

·         Roster and team fees are due by January 6th.

·         Roster changes permitted up to week 5.

·         At time of team registration, the team captain may request pre-approval by the League Committee for shooters with ongoing scheduling concerns.  A “pre-approved” shooter will be allowed to shoot “bank” scores on a Wednesday night.  (See section on Shoot-Aheads and Bank Scores for more details).

·         A required captains' meeting, (or team representative) is scheduled for Thursday, January 6th at 6:30pm.

 

Fees

 

Individual Weekly Fees:

 

·         Adults: $8.00 or 2 JGC cards

·         Youth (18 and younger): $3 per night or 1 JGC card

·         Team Fee: $125.00 per team

 

Team Work Assignment

 

·         Teams will be paired and placed on a work rotation schedule.  During, the assigned week, two teams will be responsible for setup, scorekeeping, reloading of trap houses, cashiering and breakdown.

·         Important Rule: On the week of their work assignment, teams are encouraged to shoot-ahead on the preceding Wednesday night or use a “banked score.”  Shooters may shoot on their Thursday work night, but only if time permits.

·         Important Rule:  A team failing to field 5 team members on their assigned work night will receive a 10 target penalty against their team score.

 

 

Team Scoring / Handicap System

 

Team Scoring System:

·         The top 4 individual scores per team will count towards the overall team score.

·         No blind scores for teams with less than 4 scores.

 

Divisions:

 

·         Teams will be separated into divisions based on skill and league experience.  The league committee will determine the divisions by week 2.

 

 

Handicap:

 

·         An individual handicap (similar to a bowling handicap system) will be used

 

 

Shoot-Aheads and Bank Scores

 

Shoot-Ahead Definition:

 

A shooter than cannot attend on Thursday may shoot the night before (Wednesday night).  A shoot-ahead on Wednesday will only count for the next night.  If the shooter returns on Thursday, the Thursday night score is disregarded and thrown out.  It is not scored or banked. Exception: Shooters with “pre-approval” or having the current week’s work assignment will be allowed to bank on Wednesday night.

 

Shoot-Ahead Structure:

 

·         16 and 20yd scores for a shoot-ahead must be shot on the same night.

·         No league discount for shoot-aheads; Shoot-aheads are charged at the standard JGC round fee ($5 or a card per round).

·         You must notify the manager before stepping on the line that you are shooting for a league shoot-ahead.

 

 

Bank Score Definition:

 

A shooter planning, to miss a future week(s) of league may "deposit" up to 2 scores into an account.  If a shooter is unable to attend the current week, a "bank score" will automatically be used.

 

Bank Score Structure.

 

·         16 and 20yd scores for a shoot-ahead must be shot on the same night.

·         A "bank score" is automatically withdrawn if the shooter does not register a score in the current week.

·         Bank scores are withdrawn in the order they are shot.

 

·         A shooter may have a maximum of 2 bank scores at any given time.

 

·         Important Rule: Bank scores are shot on Thursday night only unless the team captain has obtained "pre-approval" before the start of league for shooters with extraordinary circumstances.

Squad Information

 

Squadding

 

·         Each league night, shooters will sign up on a squad on a first-come, first-serve basis.

·         Squads will shoot in the order a full squad is filled.

·         Team members may elect (and are strongly encouraged to shoot together on a squad.

·         Only league participants are permitted on the trap field during shooting.

 

Squad Leaders:

 

·         Shooters in position #1 are deemed squad leaders.  They are responsible for ensuring the squad and the puller/scorekeeper are ready before the start of the round.

 

 

Other Information:

 

·         Children are welcome in the clubhouse.

·         Pets are not permitted on the trap fields or in the club house on Wednesday and Thursday nights during the Winter League

·         Qualification for individual and team awards:  Participants must shoot a minimum of 7 of the 10 weeks.

·         Issues arising not addressed in these guidelines will be decided by the league committee.
